Create a product
Updated over a week ago

šŸ’” Products are containers with content available for a set fee, such as videos, streams, or collections.

Creating a product

To create a product, proceed to the corresponding tab in the partnerā€™s account menu and click Ā«Create productĀ».

  • Then enter the name and description of the product.

  • Specify the product item (what content becomes available to the user after payment).

ā• We recommend using separate lines for each item of the product; you can add a line using the Ā«Add product itemĀ» button.

What's a product item?

It's a list of things a company can sell as part of their product, focusing on streams, recordings, and videos.

Here are some examples, so you can understand the pattern:

  1. Stream Pass

  2. Replay Vault

  3. VOD Access

  4. Stream Highlights

  5. Behind The Stream

  6. Early Access Vids

  7. Streamer Club

  8. Pre-show

  9. Commentary

Determine pricing

In the next block, you should choose the access model for the product:

Ā«PPVĀ» or Ā«SubscriptionĀ». The major difference between them is that the subscription model implies automatic renewal in order to have access to the product. The PPV model allows a user to view content for a specified amount of time.

PPV (Pay Per View)

You can add several variants of the price using the Ā«Add priceĀ» button.

For each price you can set different validity periods, currency of the transactions and the price itself, and you can use a trick and specify an Ā«OldĀ» price.

The lowest possible price will be displayed on the productā€™s card (for example, Ā«PPV from $4.99Ā»).

ā” You can also add additional prices depending on the sales period. So you can specify a special price at the pre-sale stage and increase the price when the event is coming up (The start date of the period means the start date of sales at that price).

ā” You can also limit user access to the product depending on the country from which the content is viewed by setting any of the pre-defined Country Access Template, or setting different prices in different currencies and different access periods for different regions.

Subscription

Similarly, for subscriptions, you can also add different prices using the Ā«Add priceĀ» button.

For each of them, you need to set its validity periods (week, month, three months, six months, year), the currency of the transactions, and the prices.

Subscription renewal can be disabled (as well as re-enabled) at any time. The lowest possible price will be displayed on the productā€™s card (for example, Ā«Subscription from $7.99Ā»).

ā“ You can also give subscribers a trial period and specify its duration and price.

Use Ā«old priceĀ» for giving a user a discount period as a part of your marketing plan.

Each user can buy one product for a different price, and each price has its own validity period.

šŸ’” You can add different prices, in different currencies, for different Geo templates.

šŸ’” It's also possible to set up fixed-term subscription. For more info on that, check our separate article.

Sorting out the dates

In the next block, you should specify:

Ā«Access start dateĀ» ā€” from this point on, users who have purchased the content will be able to watch it.

Ā«Access finish dateĀ» is the date, when the content becomes unavailable for users (If you plan to sell the product for a long time, it makes sense to put a date in a distant future).

Ā«Finish sales dateĀ» Users will no longer be able to buy the product after this date.

šŸ”„ The important thing is that the Access finish date cannot be less than the Access start date + full time of access period from Price section. (in this example it's 30 days)

If you want to limit sales by time but keep access to the content for users who have already purchased, you can specify the Finish sales date. After this date, the product becomes unavailable for purchase but a buyer can still use it.

Cover and preview

In the next section, you need to upload a Product cover, and optionally you can add an image to the Product background and a product Promo video and its preview image (Promo video preview).
ā€‹

āš” Check the results on the OTT to understand a user perspective.

Using the preview tool on the right side of the UI, you can immediately see how the finished product card would look like for users.

Here are some examples:

When youā€™ve finished creating a product, you can save it or publish it immediately using the buttons at the top right of the screen.

Adding content

After that, the product will become listed.

Let's fill the product with content! Proceed to Video, Collections or Streaming tab in main menu.

When the desired content is selected, the Ā«Add to productĀ» button will pop up on the top of the list.

You can also use the line Ā«Add to productsĀ» from the content page (like when you upload video or schedule a stream)

ā— Make sure you save the result using the button in the upper right corner

šŸ’” Content included in the products is marked with a dollar sign.

šŸ’” You can copy the link to the product from the productā€™s page to place it on your website or share at any other platforms. Use short links to track clicks/registrations/purchases.
