Buying a domain and changing nameservers
Updated over a week ago

When we move the site we've built for you to your own domain, we call this "pointing" or "mapping" your domain. Think of this as giving directions to your domain name, so it knows where to take people who type in your web address. It's like attaching your home address to your actual house, so letters sent to your address reach you.

By handling this for you, we make sure your web address leads straight to your streaming site on our servers. This ensures your site works smoothly, safely, and reliably.

Which domain registrar should I pick?

The choice depends on the specific needs and preferences of the organization. Here is how organizations might utilize some of the popular domain registrars mentioned:

  1. GoDaddy:

    • Suitable for organizations looking for a well-known and reliable registrar with 24/7 customer support. GoDaddy also offers various additional services, such as web hosting and security certificates.

  2. Namecheap:

    • A cost-effective choice for organizations with a limited budget. Namecheap also includes privacy protection, which is crucial for maintaining the privacy of the organization’s contact information.

  3. Google Domains:

    • Ideal for organizations already using other Google services (such as Google Workspace for email and collaboration). Google Domains offers a straightforward and ad-free experience.

  4. Bluehost or HostGator:

    • Suitable for organizations that require web hosting services in addition to domain registration. Both Bluehost and HostGator offer robust hosting solutions, including WordPress hosting.

  5. Network Solutions or Register.com:

    • Useful for large organizations requiring a variety of services, including domain registration, web hosting, and online marketing services.

  6. 1&1 IONOS:

    • Ideal for organizations in Europe (since 1&1 IONOS is a European company), offering various additional services including email hosting and cloud storage.

Regardless of the registrar chosen, your organization should ensure the registrar offers adequate security features, customer support, and any additional services needed (like hosting or email services). The registrar should also have a solid reputation for reliability and customer service.
